Jamie Carragher believes Erik ten Hag will likely be sacked by Manchester United after their abysmal performance against Coventry on Sunday, April 21. Notably, the Red Devils did win their FA Cup semi-final match against the second-tier club, but it surprisingly required penalties.

The game started in the expected fashion, as the Red Devils went two goals up before half-time. A close range effort from Scott McTominay (23') and a header from Harry Maguire (45+1') put United in a comfortable position heading into the break.

However, the next 45 minutes came with shocking tidings. United added a third goal to the scoresheet, courtesy of Bruno Fernandes (58'), but soon after that, they stumbled and faltered horribly. Coventry scored thrice in less than 30 minutes to level the score at 3-3 and take the game to extra time.

The Championship club looked the better side thereafter, and even scored a fourth goal that was cancelled out by VAR. Eventually, the game went to penalties, where they faltered and Manchester United held their nerves. Despite the win, the situation does not look good for manager Erik ten Hag, with Jamie Carragher predicting his sack.

The pundit told Sky Sports (via Mirror):

I think that result today has just cost a Man United manager his job. I don't see how he stays, I don't. It's just performance after performance and that is just like (gestures). I would imagine that dressing room is probably the most embarrassed dressing room you could probably remember of a team who has won a big game."

Carragher continued:

"Can you imagine that dressing room when you go in they're all sat there looking each other, they don't know whether to celebrate, is it a big thing that you're in a cup final and got through? They're probably all just sat there looking at each other."

Manchester United legend Roy Keane slams players for poor performance against Coventry

Roy Keane has torn into the Manchester United players following their unconvincing performance against Coventry on Sunday. The former Red Devils skipper opined that the current squad lacks character and have developed bad habits.

Keane said on ITV Sport (via Mirror):

"Manchester United play in moments, they always give you chances. We've seen it already in the FA Cup this season with the games against Wigan and Newport County. Maguire said he saw character but I don't see character."

He continued:

"I'm almost getting to the point where I don't like them. I'm seeing bad habits. The goalkeeper is wasting time at 2-0 up, get on with the game and go and flex your muscles. They'll be celebrating getting to a cup final tonight but all this does is put more pressure on the manager."

The Red Devils will face Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup on May 25. Their cross-city rivals have beaten them convincingly home and away in the Premier League this season.
