"Stevie Wonder, a washing machine” - Mark Goldbridge hilariously lists things that would've saved Manchester United star’s penalty vs Coventry

Mark Goldbridge gave a brutal assessment of Casemiro's missed penalty in Manchester United's FA Cup win against EFL Championship outfit Coventry City. The Brazilian midfielder missed the Red Devils' only spot-kick in a 4-2 shootout win (3-3 a.e.t) at Wembley today (April 21).

Casemiro stepped up to take United's first penalty but tamely placed his effort at the middle of the goal. Sky Blues' English goalkeeper Bradley Collins had no issues denying the former Real Madrid superstar.

The 32-year-old midfielder's blushes were spared though as his side eventually came from behind to win the shootout. Diogo Dalot, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, and Rasmus Hojlund converted their spot kicks.

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana produced a fine stop to deny Coventry's Callum O'Hare. Ben Sheaf blazed over the bar as United won 4-2 on penalties.

Goldbridge watched the dramatic FA Cup semifinal on The United Stand's YouTube channel. The popular YouTuber hilariously reacted to Casemiro's miss by insisting the likes of blind musician Stevie Wonder could save the penalty:

"Stevie Wonder would've saved that Casemiro penalty. It was f****ing rubbish... Things that would've saved Casemiro's penalty: Stevie Wonder, a washing machine, a bag of cement, an ant, a dead ant, a vibrator, a statue, a breadstick. Anything would've saved that."

The FA Cup semifinal was an iconic one that Erik ten Hag's side should have won during regulation time. They raced into a 3-0 lead courtesy of goals from Scott McTominay (23'), Harry Maguire (45+1') and Fernandes (58').

Coventry clawed themselves back into the semifinal through goals from Ellis Simms (71'), O'Hare (79') and Haji Wright (90'5 P'). Mark Robins' side had the ball in the back of the net in the 120+1st minute through Danish striker Victor Torp.

However, VAR ruled the goal out due to an offside, breaking the EFL Championship side's hearts. Manchester United booked an FA Cup final meeting with Manchester City for the second consecutive season.

Casemiro will play in his second FA Cup final with Manchester United after their frenetic victory over Coventry. The Brazilian was on the losing side last season as the Red Devils suffered a 2-1 defeat to City at Wembley.

The Manchester rivals will do battle again to win English football's oldest cup competition. Their meeting takes place on May 25 and is Ten Hag's side's only hope of winning silverware this season.

Casemiro was happy to reach the final for another season in a row. He posted on X (formerly Twitter):

"Onto the FA Cup final again!!"

Casemiro helped Manchester United end a six-year trophy drought last season. They triumphed in the Carabao Cup final and he scored the opener in a 2-0 win against Newcastle United. He'll hope to get his hands on another trophy when his side meet City next month.
