Petr Cech admits Arsene Wenger was the reason he moved from Chelsea to Arsenal

Petr Cech says he made a personal choice moving to Arsenal from Chelsea

Arsenal goalkeeper, Petr Cech, has revealed that it was Arsene Wenger and his plan with Arsenal that convinced him to leave Chelsea and join Arsenal. The Czech shot-stopper – who gave a long-ranging interview to Canal + – won everything there was with the West Londoners but made the switch to North London last summer and has so far been a rock at the back for the Gunners.

Cech has kept the most amount of clean sheets in the league this season and has really helped in bringing some stability into the back-five building a strong relationship with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.

When asked about how he's felt about the eight months at Arsenal, Cech said, "I think I made the right choice, I had to make a choice between upsetting a few supporters at Chelsea or making a choice that would make me happy. After spending 10 years at Chelsea and being loyal to the club, I for once made a choice to focus on myself."

Former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, was dead against selling Cech to Arsene Wenger's men but it is believed that Cech skipped Mourinho altogether and went straight to owner, Roman Abramovic – who sanctioned the deal behind Mourinho's back.

All Cech had to do was talk to Wenger and he did insisting that he was impressed with what the Frenchman had planned for him at Arsenal. Canal+'s Michael Landreau said that Wenger was sleeping better ever since signing Cech to which Cech responded, "I don’t know you should ask him, when I met him, he explained how things were working and organised at the club and I liked what he told me."

Arsenal travel to Manchester to take on Louis van Gaal's Manchester United and Cech feels the team need to keep their momentum going to ensure they're amongst the ones close to the title come the end of the season.

"We knew that the Leicester game was extremely important for us. That last minute in the game has totally changed the scenario of the title race. We have to keep the momentum from the last minute goal and carry on from there.

"The game is really important because United are trying to get into the top 4 places while we are in the title race."
