Paris, Nov 11 Football referee Clement Turpin admitted that he was wrong to send off Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula in Sunday night's 'Le Classique' of French Ligue 1 at the Parc des Princes where Paris Saint-Germain claimed a crucial 2-0 win over the leaders.

According to a report by local radio Monday, Turpin had "after seeing the images back, realised that he had wrongly interpreted the foul committed by Imbula", reports Xinhua.

The referee reported this to the league's technical supervisor and hoped that Imbula's one-match ban caused by the red card will be waived off.

Disciplinary committee of the LFP disciplinary committee will meet Thursday and decide on whether the Congo midfielder's red card should be rescinded or not.

Just seven minutes before Edison Cavani's goal for PSG, Turpin sent off Imbula for tackling Yohan Cabaye, which handed a numerical advantage to the hosts but proved to be a wrong decision as replays showed Imbula went in for a 50-50 ball with Cabaye and stayed on his feet in control.

Sunday's victory helped PSG close in on Marseille by only one point.
