Reports: Loic Remy only a medical away from becoming a Liverpool player

Loic Remy reportedly had a £8 million buy out clause at QPR

French forward Loic Remy is set to become a Liverpool player after terms were agreed between all sides involved in the deal.

It was earlier reported that Liverpool had bid £8.5 million for the ex-Marseille hitman. Now it seems that the bid has been accepted by Queens Park Rangers and the only thing left for Loic Remy to don the red of Liverpool is the passing of a medical.

He joined the Rs in January 2013 from Marseille as a last ditch effort from Harry Redknapp to save the club from relegation. He certainly hit the ground running in English football, scoring 6 goals in 14 appearances for the Londoners. But his goals weren’t enough to rescue the Loftus road outfit from the drop.

Remy spent last season on loan at Newcastle United, where he scored 14 goals for the Magpies in 26 appearances in the Premier League.

The capture of the French forward will represent Brendan Rodgers’ first attempt at filling the void left by the outgoing Luis Suarez. In Remy, Liverpool potentially get another man who can stretch the opposition’s defence with his ability to get in behind the backline using his pace and is a proven goalscorer at the Premier League level.

If he joins, Remy will become Liverpool’s fifth signing of the summer, joining Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic this off-season at Anfield. The French international is due to fly off to Boston, where the club doctor is currently, to complete his medical.
