Reports: Manchester City close to completing £31.2 million deal for Leroy Sane

Sane is close to a move to Manchester

Pep Guardiola is close to completing his fourth summer signing for Manchester City as the deal for highly rated Leroy Sane edges ever closer. According to German media, the young German star travelled to Manchester on Saturday to complete his medical.

Sane had earlier re-stated that he wanted to leave Schalke 04 and even Pep Guardiola had admitted they are trying to sign the player. Sane has apparently said his goodbyes and is set to have his medical soon.

Sane has played a season and a half with Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga. He came under the spotlight during a UEFA Champions League game against Real Madrid and ever since his career has been an upward trajectory.

The fee is something of an issue for City with add-ons making the total value go up to £46.5 million. But with the transfer market prices these days there isn’t much that can be done about that.

Sane will join the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Nolita as City’s new signings. Guardiola still has to let go of certain players who are currently not making the cut at the club. The likes of Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony’s futures are in doubt and might be sold off by the Spaniard.

Sane is only 20 but Pep might make the star one of his main attacking players this season. His first two pre-season friendlies have not gone too well. They were first beaten 1-0 by his former team Bayern Munich.

They narrowly defeated Borussia Dortmund in the ICC match on penalties but that was a much better performance. Sane will no doubt improve the squad but Pep still has a huge task in getting the results out of his team.

The manager also has Sergio Aguero back from his break after the Copas and he showed signs of spark in that game against Dortmund.
