Real Madrid want to go after Bayern Munich superstar
Real Madrid want to go after Bayern Munich superstar Alphonso Davies.

According to renowned journalist Christian Falk, Real Madrid defender David Alaba is in constant touch with his former Bayern Munich defensive teammate Alphonso Davies.

Alaba is trying to convince the Canadian left-back to complete a move to the Spanish capital. The 23-year-old Davies is one of the best players in the world in his position. He joined Bayern in 2019 and has made 176 appearances across competitions, scoring eight goals and providing 28 assists.

This season, Davies has provided three assists in 23 appearances for the Bavarians. His current deal with Bayern expires at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Real Madrid's interest Davies is well known, and the Madrid giants are expected to go all out for the defender in the summer. Los Blancos are leaving no stones unturned, and Alaba, formerly of Bayern, is trying to convince his ex-teammate, according to Falk, who told Caughtoffside:

"David Alaba and Davies are obviously good friends, and the former is, of course, speaking of how great (Real) Madrid is. Don’t forget that Madrid can also pay a big salary! I think there’s a big chance for (Real) Madrid at the moment.”

Alaba and Davies played 72 times together for Bayern before the Austrian joined Los Blancos in 2021. Davies is valued at €70 million by Transfermarkt.

Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies' contract talks with Bayern Munich have hit a standstill

Real Madrid target Davies' contract extension talks with Bayern Munich have hit a standstill, as reported by Falk.

While the two parties had a €12 million per year agreement in place, former Bayern director Hasan Salihamidzic, the man behind the deal, has since been fired. Falk said (via Madrid Universal):

"The talks with Alphonso Davies are not very far along at the moment. I’ve mentioned before that at the beginning of the prior summer window there was an agreement in place for €12m-a-year – but then the man behind it, Hasan Salihamidzic, was fired."

He added:

“Now, there is an open window because of the new sporting director, Christoph Freund, and the player’s camp is using this to get more time.”

Alphonso Davies remains a sought-after player in his position. Given his tremendous quality, Real Madrid's interest isn't expected to phase out, and a summer move could be on the cards.
