Rumour: Wesley Sneijder's potential move to Manchester City blocked by Galatasaray

Wesley Sneijder in action for Galatasaray against Anderlecht in the Champions League

Manchester City’s wish to get Wesley Sneijder in order to replace Frank Lampard has been hampered as his current club Galatasaray are not ready to let go of the Dutch international. There have been reports about Sneijder not happy over his contract at Galatasaray and it has also been speculated that he wants a move because of his team’s dismal performance in the UEFA Champions League, where they finished last in Group D, behind Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Anderlecht.

Reports have suggested that the former Inter Milan footballer has been eyed by Manchester City as a stop-gap measure. It has been said that City will try offering him to their sister club New York City to play in the MLS so that Frank Lampard’s loan can be extended till the end of the season. However, the Turkish giants are reportedly not willing to let their star player to move to any other club.

At same time, there have been reports about City wanting to bring back Kevin De Bruyne to the Premier League. Chelsea had sold the Belgian midfielder to Wolfsburg last January because he had failed to make an impact at the London club. It is believed that Manuel Pellegrini is aiming to bring the 23-year-old De Bruyne to the Manchester with a £20m move said to be on the cards
