Ryan Shawcross was booked by referee by Lee Mason, but surprisingly, in the dressing room!

According to various reports, Robin van Persie and Ryan Shawcross had an argument in the tunnel during half time. The trouble started while there was a free kick being taken, with both players exchanging words, and had to be separated by the referee.

The argument continued while the players were getting back into the dressing room, which prompted the referee to take action.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes said, “Ryan was booked in the dressing room. The referee made a point of knocking on the door and booking him. I’ve no idea why. He pushed him I think but I’ve no idea because I didn’t see the incident but he wanted to book Ryan. I’ve never known anyone get booked in the dressing room before.”

Apparently the argument continued even after the game as both players were involved in a shouting match while the press were conducting interviews.
