Sergio Aguero insists he will be staying at Manchester City despite La Liga interest

Sergio Aguero has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid, and insisted he will be staying at Manchester City, reports Sky Sports.

Aguero, who is currently part of the Argentina squad in Brazil for the World Cup, has often been linked with a return to La Liga since joining City in 2011, though he insists he is happy in the Premier League.

While talking to Cadena Cope, a Spanish radio station, he said: ”There’s lots of talk about Real Madrid and Barcelona. It’s always the same every year.

“But the truth is that I’m going to stay at City. I’m very happy and I’m going to continue there.”

The 26-year-old has been a huge success for Man City, who have won two Premier League titles since the Argentine’s arrival. He was a key part of this season’s triumph, scoring 17 goals in 23 appearances. City also won the League Cup this season, with their Premier League win completing a domestic double in Chilean manager Manuel Pellegrini’s first season at the club.

He will also be hoping for World Cup success this summer, and his partnership with Lionel Messi has made Argentina one of the tournament favourites. Aguero and Messi played well in Argentina’s opening game win against Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Aguero had the best goals per 90 minutes rate of all strikers who played more than ten Premier League games last year.
