Sergio Ramos describes the obligation of Real Madrid DNA

Sergio Ramos came up big when it mattered the most for Madrid yet again

Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, has insisted that it is an inbred characteristic of Real Madrid’s DNA to fight till the very last breath. The former Sevilla starlet scored in the dying minutes of the game to give Real Madrid a point from their recent Clasico endeavour.

Speaking after the game, Ramos insisted that the very ideology of the club is to not give up until the very last breath and that the Blancos showed just that with the late equaliser.

"The team has again showed that we came here to win the game. It wasn’t to be but we got a point," Ramos said. "At the end of the day, the DNA of Real Madrid obliges you to fight until the end, to always have hope."

With his goal, Real Madrid salvaged a point and, hence, the 6 point lead over their fiercest rivals remains intact.

"It shows that we have done things well since the start of the season, but we can’t go crazy," Ramos said.

Sergio Ramos has also insisted that there is still a long way to go as a 6 points lead can be blown away in a matter of just two games. He has also urged his team to remain composed and avoid complacency.

"Six points is just two games. There is a long way to go and Barca and the other teams below will make things very difficult. We prefer to rely on ourselves, but neither should we be singing from the rooftops."

Real Madrid: A hard team to beat

Meanwhile, Luka Modric, who put in a stellar display in the first half of the Clasico encounter, insisted that Real Madrid played like a team and that it is really hard for teams to beat the Whites.

"We played like a team," Modric said. "If we leave it all out on the field, it is very difficult to beat us. We have to do this in every game, not just in the Clasico."

Sergio Ramos might be one of the most reckless defenders on the planet, but his knack of scoring in the final minutes of the game has helped Real Madrid scrap sanctity from seemingly lost causes.

Meanwhile, with a lead of 6 points, Madrid will be heading towards the difficult phase of La Liga with the intention to not blow up the advantage. With a final game against Deportivo before the winter La Liga break, Madrid will be hoping to finish the year with a considerable gap over their rivals.
