Luka ModriÄ is a Croatian footballer who plays for Real Madrid and for the Croatia national football team as a midfielder. After showing promise in hometown club Zadar's youth team, he was signed by Dinamo Zagreb as a teenager in 2002. His professional career began with loan spells at Zrinjski Mostar and Inter ZapreÅĄiÄ. In 2005, ModriÄ signed his first long-term contract with Dinamo through to 2015. He secured a place in Dinamo's first team, contributing 7 goals in 31 matches to help win the league. In the 2006â07 season, Dinamo again won the league with ModriÄ making a similar contribution, acknowledged by the Prva HNL Player of the Year award. On 26 April 2008, Modric transferred to Tottenham Hotspur, signing a 6 year contract from summer 2008. He made his competitive debut on 16 August in the 2â1 defeat by Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium in Spurs' first match of the 2008â09 Premier League season. On 27 August 2012, Real Madrid signed Modric on a five year contract with an estimated worth of ÂŖ33m. He scored his first goal for the club on 3 November 2012 â scoring in the last minute of injury time in the 4â0 victory against Real Zaragoza in the league. ModriÄ has also played for the Croatian national team since 2006 including participation for Croatia at Euro 2008 and Euro 2012
