Seria A: Partial stadium ban given for Juventus

Juventus given partial stadium ban after its fans sang discriminating chants

Following the crowd’s insulting chants against the game against Napoli, Juventus was given a partial stadium ban.

However, this ban is suspended for a year and will be activated if there are any such future incidents during the suspension period.

In the game against Napoli, Juventus fans were heard singing “discriminating chants” and so this action was taken.

A league statement read, “Juventus fans located in the first and second tiers of the south stand sang the following chant at 1440 CET – ‘Wash them with fire, Vesuvius wash them with fire.’

“Between the ninth and 10th minutes and between the 64th and 65th minutes the same fans sang ‘What a smell, even the dogs run away when the Neapolitans arrive. Oh, victims of cholera and earthquakes, you never wash yourselves.”

It is an relation to the active volcano Mount Vesuvius that is located near Naples as well as the cholera epidemics that killed thousands of people.

Juventus is not the first club to be facing a stadium ban as even clubs such as AC Milan, Inter Milan, Roma and Torino have been handed out similar punishments.
