Raheem Sterling's agent admits his client would excel under new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

Raheem scored his first hat-trick in the Premier League against Bournemouth this weekend.

Raheem Sterling’s agent Aidy Ward has admitted that his client would excel at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, who replaced Brendan Rodgers at Anfield during the international break, as per the reports on Daily Mail. Ward believes Sterling would thrive under the German coach if he still was a Reds player.

The 20-year-old left the Merseyside club on a poor note during the summer of 2015 for £49 million. Many of the Anfield faithful were left disgusted by the manner in which Sterling left the club. He was a darling in the red parts of Merseyside until he demanded for an improvement in his contract on the back end of 2014/15 season.

Despite all the criticism he has received for the switch, the former Liverpool forward has made a promising start at Etihad Stadium, scoring six goals this term for both club and country. Sterling scored his first ever professional hat-trick against Bournemouth at the weekend.

The England international is already lining up to be City’s key player this season in the absence of injured David Silva and Sergio Aguero, while many predicted that he would be restricted to a bit-part role with the Citizens.

So far he has missed out on just one game for the Sky Blues this season in all competitions. Sterling is proving his critics wrong and has been doing his talking on the pitch.

Agent Ward has admitted that if Sterling had stayed he would excel under the newly appointed Liverpool manager Klopp.

“The new Liverpool manager probably would have been a great fit for Raheem – passionate, disciplined in the right way, new ideas, not afraid of trying new things.” he said.

“He’ll do great at Liverpool. Would Raheem under Klopp have been a good scenario? Yes, 100 per cent, definitely, mainly because of the person Klopp is – the passion, the drive, the emotion, wanting to achieve.”

“Raheem has all of this, but you won’t always see it outwardly. Working with Klopp – that could have been great. He’s going to get the best out of those players. It could have been a dream come true.”

Ward blames Rodgers for Sterling’s departure

Brendan Rodgers and Raheem Sterling both left Liverpool this year.

Ward has also reignited his war of words with former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and has insisted that it was Rodgers’ treatment of Sterling that led to his exit during the summer. He accused the club of ‘underhandedness’ and being ‘sly’.

“Raheem could’ve stayed, he should be at Liverpool. I think for me it was like he was being told to be a good boy and sign a contract. In December I spoke to Liverpool and said we’ll sign a contract if there is a buy-out clause – those clauses are now common practice. They said no to that.”

“Then there was an underhandedness, there were sly remarks. In press conferences, Brendan told everyone Raheem would sign – why do that? Last season I thought subliminal messages were being sent to Raheem.

“Why would Liverpool play him at left wing back? Would you play Simon Mignolet up front? I think it was the game against Manchester United, he was played as an attacking midfielder, moved to right back, then up front, then left back, and eventually back to attacking midfielder.”

“I was watching thinking: “Well this is interesting”.”
