Thiago Silva confident Paris Saint-Germain will sign either Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer

Silva was included in the 2015 FIFA FIFPro World XI for his impressive performances

Brazil defender Thiago Silva has stated that Paris Saint-Germain wll look to sign either Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi or Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer transfer window. However, he also expressed his doubts on the Paris based club’s chances of signing his compatriot Neymar from Barcelona.

The Ligue 1 champions are reported to be on the look out for a marquee signing ahead of the next season with the potential departure of star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic whose contract expires at the end of the current season.

PSG, which was bought by the Qatar Sports Investments group in 2011, have returned to the forefront of French football having undergone the biggest spending spree undertaken in Ligue 1 history. And the considerable financial muscle of the club makes them one of the few clubs that could actually pull of a transfer that could involve Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The club has been constantly linked with a move for 2015’s three Ballon d’Or finalists namely winner Messi, Ronaldo and Brazilian sensation Neymar and club captain Silva has weighed in with his views. Altough he almost ruled out a move for Neymar, he was more optimistic with his club’s chances of signing Messi or Ronaldo.

"I like Neymar a lot, but I think Barcelona will not allow him to leave," he told

"It would perhaps be easier for Barcelona to let go of Messi. Could Messi come to PSG? Perhaps, I mean, why not? Everything is possible.”

"A move for Cristiano Ronaldo? He is a player who makes the difference for Real Madrid. If he would be open to joining PSG, to help us and to make the difference for PSG."

Messi and Ronaldo both have contracts with respective clubs that stretch to 2018

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been strongly linked with a move to the Parc des Princes ever since his curious interaction with PSG’s manager Laurent Blanc on the sidelines of the pitch during their Champions League group stage clash last year. And the rumours of the move has refused to die down even after Ronaldo clarified his actions .

Neymar has a contract with Barcelona until June 2018, but the Catalans are believed to be ready to offer the Brazil international a new and improved deal in light of his stellar performances for the club.

Meanwhile Messi, 28, and the 30-year-old Ronaldo each have contracts until June 2018, with Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively. Also, Messi has announced his intentions of staying with the Catalan side as he said he would ‘never leave Barcelona’ during the FIFA Ballon d’Or earlier this month. So it would be interesting to see who the Parisians would target next summer.
