Winter transfer window: Do we need any?

Mourinho says Chelsea to not be a part of Winter Tranfer market

Jose Mourinho was asked about the January transfer window after the victory over Derby County the other evening and stated that there would be no one coming in or leaving. I am asking if you think we do need someone.

We have read and heard a whole host of rumours of players leaving the club such as Petr Cech and Mohamed Salah with others being linked with moves into the club. When asked of these reports Mourinho said:

"We have a short squad but we’ve got good players, some younger, some older, but the squad is very, very good.

Our project is to start and finish the season with the same group of players, so there will be nobody to leave and nobody to come in either.”

Anything is possible in football and we have seen over the years. The boss states that the project is to start and finish with the same group of players but that is as long as everyone is happy, motivated and prepared to be a part of the squad if they are not playing as much.

Not that I am saying that he would leave the club, but only yesterday Petr Cech was linked with a loan move to Liverpool. What would happen if he approached the club and stated that he wanted to play more? They would have no choice would they?

If that were to happen, the club would act swiftly to line up a like-for-like replacement as I am sure they have their eye on some players out there if they had to move in the market next month.

As far as our squad at the moment is concerned, I cannot see any areas that we need to strengthen. Again, that's based on the players we have at our disposal at the moment. We are strong throughout and for the most part, the players who have come in when the team has been rotated, have done well.

What do you think? Are there any areas that you feel Chelsea could strengthen?
