Video: Managers react to Cardiff victory

Reaction from managers Malky Mackay and Manuel Pellegrini on Sunday (25th August), following Cardiff City‘s 3-2 home win over Manchester City.

Malky Mackay, Cardiff City manager:“It was the first time that we’ve ever been in the Barclays Premier League. First time in 51 years we’ve been in the top division, so it meant a lot to a lot of people. So at the end of the game with the result being as it is, I am very proud of a lot of people at the club. Obviously the players, also are fans who made that atmosphere unbelievable today.”

Malky Mackay, Cardiff City manager:“I think when the goals went in, that really showed – the passion of our fans today. Certainly it is something that is going to be massively important for us going forward. We played against a Manchester City team who only lost one game in the Premier League last season from a winning position and to come back and show that character today and deservedly win the game”

Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City manager:“Not surprised. We knew before we came here that Cardiff are a very strong team here. They didn’t lose too many games last year but we were optimistic that we could win here, and have three (more) points but the reality was another thing.”
