Video: Top stars unite to pay tribute to victims of Paris attacks

A heartwarming tribute spearheaded by French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain saw stars across various sporting disciplines come together to display their solidarity and support to the victims of the gruesome terror attacks that struck the French capital on the 13th of November.

Paris bore the brunt of one of the most devastating acts of terror in the history of the country which saw over 120 innocent civilians lose their lives. Around 200 people were left injured of which 80 were severely crippled as suicide bombers blew themselves up in coordinated attacks at numerous venues across the heart of France.

The carnage also involved attacks on the Stade de France which was hosting an International friendly between the hosts France and World Champions Germany. Three people were reportedly killed in this particular incident outside the stadium with the players of both teams evacuated to safety later on.

Tributes still continue to flow to Paris from around the world with people trying to share the sorrows of all the families who lost their kin to the dastardly act of terrorists. It was now the turn of the sports fraternity to join the cause by doing their bit to show solidarity with those affected by the tragedy.

The tribute sees stars from football, tennis, basketball, athletics among others utter the phrase “Je Suis Paris” meaning ‘I am Paris’ to show their unity with the victims and their families.

The video features the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Andrea Pirlo among a host of other famous names in the world of football. It also contains tributes from former football legends such as Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Paolo Maldini, Fabio Cannavaro, Ronaldo and Eric Abidal.

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu and manager Luis Enrique, PSG manager Laurent Blanc and the Chairman and CEO of PSG Nasser Al-Khelaifi were among the other footballing personalities who were part of this thoughtful gesture.
