Why are Chelsea fans still talking about Kevin De Bruyne?

Can someone tell me why we are still talking about Kevin De Bruyne and his time at Chelsea? I understand that he is being linked with Manchester City in a big money move but what on earth has that got to do with Chelsea?

There is no denying that he has talent. However, he had his chance here and never took it and was sold for a healthy profit that suited all parties – case closed! As with any player that is sold for big money by Chelsea and Mourinho and does well afterwards, questions are always asked but surely this has been spoken about enough times?

Anyone who understands the game and especially the demands of the manager on the Chelsea players can see that if he feels that any of them cannot give him what he wants, he will be out the door. It happened with Juan Mata and it happened to Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne was let go because he didn’t have the work ethic Mourinho wants

Jose Mourinho craves a work ethic from his players and expects them to work hard without the ball to assist their defence in creating a high block on the pitch. We see Hazard, Oscar and Willian all do it for the manager and for their teammates and that's why they remain in favour with Mourinho.

Do we see the same level of work rate from Juan Mata for 90 minutes or from De Bruyne? The simple answer is "No" despite how much we love Juan Mata.

So to more questions to the manager after last night’s defeat to the New York Red Bulls and with the speculation surrounding a £60m move for De Bruyne to Manchester City, Mourinho was asked to respond to quotes made by the Belgian stating that he had been treated unfairly.

He said: “That is unfair because I wanted to keep him. And he told me it was not in his personality to be competing for a position in the team. He needed a team where he knows he can play every game. He needs to know that he is important.

“He did not want a team where he thinks am I playing or not? He needs that trust, he needs that quality. He needs that security. So I was not happy when he left. So yes it’s not fair.

“He didn’t tell me he couldn’t handle the pressure. He told me he wanted to play every weekend. I told him this is Chelsea, you are very young, you have Eden Hazard, you have Mata, you have Willian, you have Schürrle, and I cannot promise you that.

“And the first game of the season against Hull City he played. For the second game against Manchester United, he played. The third game of the season was the Super Cup in Prague, I decided not to play him. For the fourth match, in the Premier League, he was on the bench. And he was not happy. He told me he was not happy.

“He was not training very well and he was saying: ‘I can’t give you more. This is just my way,’

“So yes, I accept that if this is his mentality and it’s his choice to go, it is better for Chelsea to make a good deal. Chelsea made a good deal and he was happy to go and I am happy because the kid is a good kid. And I am happy for him

“Players have different circumstances. We sold him, made our money and it was fantastic because we bought him cheap and sold him for a fantastic price. And now Wolfsburg, if they make a fantastic deal, that is good for them.”

Brilliant from the manager and yet again to the point. Expect a reaction from KDB but being honest do any of us care?
