Offline mode to be excluded from Elite: Dangerous

Elite: Dangerous

Elite: Dangerous, the new upcoming space adventure title from Frontier Developments has been making a lot of headlines in the gaming scene lately, firstly because it was crowdfunded on Kickstarters and secondly because it is slated to release on December 16th.

So naturally fans have a lot of expectations of the game and cannot wait for it’s buzzed about release. But the game has run into some controversy lately after Frontier Developments announced that the game would have no offline mode.

So fans who bought the game specifically for an offline mode have been quite disappointed and Frontier Developments has taken note of this. They recently released a newsletter detailing the policy they have regarding refunds for the game.

So players who have pre-ordered the game expecting it to have an offline mode can now get a full refund. However, players who have already played the alpha or beta versions of the game are not eligible for a refund.

But even this has faced some harsh criticism from fans so the company has been forced to reassess this policy. Instead they will now be contacting people individually to try and figure things out.

The company has stated that even though an offline mode can be included it may greatly affect the quality of the game. Elite: Dangerous was not meant to be an offline game originally so an offline mode was not considered during the games development and as a result many features will be available only for the online mode.

Besides this, the game’s final beta patch has arrived today. This will be the last patch before the games retail release and consists of some much needed bug fixes and optimizations. There will also be more ways for players to reach the Elite status now then just through combat.

Players can now get the status by trading and exploring instead. Frontier developments has also added many more activities to the game in response to the lack of content complaints by players.
