Scottie Scheffler recently responded to Wyndham Clark's comment regarding a gap between the current World No.1 and other PGA Tour players.
Clark, who missed the cut at last week's Masters, contrasted his performance with Scheffler's victory, where he secured his second Major event win with an impressive four-stroke margin over Ludvig Aberg.
Scheffler has been enjoying the peak of his career, clinching victory in three of the last four tournaments he participated in, including the Major. Additionally, he has not missed any cuts since the beginning of the 2022-23 PGA Tour season.
Despite this, Clark, the 2023 US Open champion, expressed his belief in the existence of a gap between Scheffler and his PGA Tour players.
During the pre-tournament press conference of the RBC Heritage, Scheffler addressed Clark's comment. He said:
"I was on a radio show earlier today, and Colt asked me if I thought about withdrawing, and I was like no, I committed to this tournament. And I'm not shown up here just to walk around and play a little golf like I left my pregnant wife at home to come here and play a golf tournament. I'm here to play and hopefully play well. I'm not here just for fun." (11:16-11:26)
It is important to note that Scheffler's wife is pregnant and could give birth to their first child anytime soon. Nevertheless, he made the decision to compete in this week's Signature event, which will kick off with its inaugural round on Thursday, April 18th.

He emerged victorious at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and then won The Players Championship. However, he failed to complete the victory three-peat as he finished T2 at the Texas Children's Houston Open. But then won the Masters last week.
