Three franchises – Kalinga Lancers, Dabang Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh Wizards – opted not to make full use of six ‘retained quotas (three Indian and three international players) retaining five, three and five players respectively, leaving them wider options for the forthcoming auction pool.
A total of 26 players were retained Australia’s Andrew Charter, Ireland’s David Harte and India’s PR Sreejesh are three goalkeepers among the retained players for Kalinga Lancers, Dabang Mumbai and UP Wizards.
Ashley Jackson of Ranchi Rays attracted the highest price among all the retained players. Jaypee Punjab Warriors’ Indian junior fullback Varun Kumar was the least expensive among the retained players – he was retained for $10,000.
Australia have the most number of players among the retained players – as many as eight Aussies were among the retained list – Tristian White, Mark Knowles, Jacob Whetton, Chris Ciriello, Fergus Kavanagh, Andrew Charter, Aran Zalewski and Jeremy Hawyard.
Manpreet Singh was the most expensive Indian player among the retained players – he was retained for $66,000 by Ranchi Rays. The Walmiki brothers – Yuvraj and Devindar – are the only pair of brothers among the retained list.
Five drag-flickers – Ashley Jackson, Vokkaliga Raghunath, Gurjinder Singh, Harmanpreet Singh and Chris Ciriello were retained for Ranchi Rays, UP Wizards, Kalinga Lancers, Dabang Mumbai and Jaypee Punjab Warriors.
