Australia defeated hosts Malaysia 3-2 in the final of the 22nd Sultan Azlan Shah Cup as they lifted the trophy for a record 7th time. Faizal Saari opened the score for Malaysia in the match. Nick Budgeon and Craig Boyne gave Australia the lead before Tajuddin Jalil restored parity at 2-2. But a last minute goal from Trent Mitton broke the hearts of thousands who had gathered to cheer for the home team in Ipoh, Malaysia.
