CM Punk seems very patient about his UFC debut

Ex-WWE wrestler CM Punk was on the podcast this Monday, joining Jon Anik and Kenny Florian speaking about his return to UFC. He sounded like he was no hurry to make that long walk to the Octagon. The "Straight Edge Superstar" signed up with UFC last November, but is yet to have an actual fight. And it doesn’t seem like he’ll be in one until 2016.

His words:

"I'll tell you who is super okay with it, my accountant. She was straight up like, 'Oh yea, don't even fight this year. That would be super great.' I know Duke [Roufus] has told me, and I think he's been public with it, that he would like me for a full 12 months before he'd sign off on me fighting. I've had zero talks with [UFC president] Dana White, [CEO] Lorenzo Fertitta, [matchmaker] Joe Silva, anybody, about an opponent, about a date. I'm thankful for that because there's zero pressure. As bad as I have the itch to get in there, I want to be as prepared as possible. I wouldn't be upset if it got pushed to 2016."

Listen to the podcast below:

Punk said has been training hard and has been trying to cram a ton of knowledge in a very short amount of time. He also said that he isn’t training for one fight and rather he’s trying to make a promising career. The WWE import’s debut will likely be a high-profile PPV fight and will most likely compete at welterweight.
