MMA legend Gegard Mousasi will face Fabian Edwards in the main event of Bellator Paris in May. The clash will see the #1 and #2 ranked Bellator middleweights compete against each other for the first time.

The announcement was made by the Bellator-oriented MMA news account @bellatorzone on Twitter, who said the following:

"The legend Gegard Mousasi is back in action on May 12. He takes on Fabian Edwards in the main event of #BellatorParis."

See the tweet below:

Gegard Mousasi will be hoping to get back in the win column against Fabian Edwards in May following the Dutch fighter's defeat to Johnny Eblen at Bellator 282, where he lost the middleweight title.

'The Dreamcatcher' currently holds a record of 7-2 in the promotion. A strong performance against Edwards could see him rematch Eblen in the near future.

Fabian Edwards, the younger brother of UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards, will hope to continue his march towards a title shot of his own. He currently has a two-fight winning streak that includes a huge KO victory over MMA legend Lyoto Machida, and is nearing the #1 middleweight contender position.

With a strong enough performance at Bellator Paris, it seems that either man could find themselves fighting for the Bellator middleweight title in their next fight.

Bellator MMA Scott Coker discussed Dillon Danis returning to promotion

Dillon Danis was recently in the headlines after he pulled out of a boxing match with KSI that was scheduled to take place this weekend.

'El Jefe' has received an immense amount of criticism following his decision, with MMA analysts like Michael Bisping stating that Danis will struggle to ever organize a professional fight again.

Danis has been under contract at Bellator since his debut in 2018, but last fought for the promotion in 2019. His long-term absence and recent unprofessional behavior has left many wondering whether Danis has a future with Bellator or not.

The CEO of the promotion, Scott Coker, recently appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. The pair briefly discussed Dillon Danis' situation, and Coker said the following:

"He's reached out to me and said he wants to fight. So we're going to try and get him the rotation. But it's been a long time since he's fought. I hope he's been training and doing his thing. At the end of the day it's really going to be up to him. We have a contract with the guy, and we're going to honor the contract."
