The 31-year-old NASCAR driver began his journey in the Camping World Truck Series under Brad Keselowski Racing in 2012 and drove till 2015 for the team. He then landed a seat with Wood Brothers Racing in 2015 and piloted the #21 Ford. Blaney also secured his maiden Cup Series win with the team, marking the team's 99th win at Pocono before he moved to Team Penske for the next season.

The former Wood Brothers Racing driver also worked as a pit road reporter in 2017 and interviewed his former boss, Brad Keselowski, after his Xfinity Series win a day earlier. The following day Ryan Blaney earned his maiden win. On that occasion Brad Keselowski, who was present in the pit lanes, interviewed Blaney, making the moment special for him.

"Oh, this is cool. You know, I get to interview my teammate, and, you know, my former boss in victory lane, all that stuff. And then it was so cool the next day when I won my first cup race. You know, Brad did a lot for me. And he wasn't; he came to victory lane and did the interview. He was, he was the TV interview guy. So Brad was one of the first people I saw when I got out of the car. So that was, like, a cool, full-circle moment," the 2023 Cup Series driver stated. [01:33 onwards]

"I interviewed him at Victory Lane the day before he got me on my first Cup win. And Brad did so much for me, you know, trucks and getting me over to Penn State. That was just really cool that he wanted to do that. He was excited, and he was like, "Yeah, give me the belt and the microphone and headphones, and I'm gonna interview Ryan," he added.

Ryan Blaney opened up about the "dumb decisions," during the Wurth 400

In May 2025, the Cup Series driver Ryan Blaney had a slow start in the Wurth 400 race at Texas Motor Speedway. He qualified outside of the top 20 drivers, nearly at the end of the pack, but had a strong strategy that helped him move 21 spots and finish the race in P3.

However, Blaney made a small mistake that cost him the win. If the Team Penske driver had taken the out lane under the yellow flag while Spire Motorsports driver Michael McDowell was leading, things could have been different.

Recalling the same incident, Ryan Blaney told Newsweek:

“The one time I didn't pick the outside, the 71 (of McDowell) gets the lead, and then I couldn't get it back. Just driver making dumb decisions and not doing his job. I appreciate the 12 car was a fast car. Just can't do nothing right currently, so hopefully it will work itself out."

The Hartford, Ohio, native ranks seventh on the Cup Series points table with 427 points to his name. He secured his maiden victory of the 2025 season at Nashville Superspeedway, followed by six top-five and seven top-ten finishes in 15 starts this season with an average finish of 17.6.
