Antonio Brown was one of the NFL's top wide receivers for nearly a decade in his career. However, the Pittsburgh Steelers were looking to find a trade partner and move the wideout in March 2019.
One such team was the Buffalo Bills and it seemed that Brown was on his way there. Yet, the deal never came to fruition as the Bills pulled out of the deal with the Steelers.
Many were speculating that Rachel Bush, the wife of Bills star safety Jordan Poyer, could have been the reason why. There were rumors of a supposed affair between Bush and Brown prior to marrying Poyer in 2018. Bush never disclosed what those things were or who they were with.
It would have been a locker room situation between Poyer and Antonio Brown, if the affair rumors were true. It remains unknown whether or not the reported affair impacted the trade falling apart. The four-time All-Pro would have to come out and address the rumors.
So far, he has remained silent on the matter.
Moreover, it was likely only part of the reason why the trade didn't fall through even if the rumors were true. The then-Steelers star likely wanted to play for a franchise that was a player or two away from being a Super Bowl contender.
The Bills had a record of 9-7 in the 2017 season, losing in the Wild Card round and not quite a championship contender. For Brown, the Steelers did end up finding a team to acquire him
What happened to Antonio Brown after the Bills trade didn't happen?
After the Bills trade was a no-go, Pittsburgh sent Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders. The Steelers received a third-round and fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft for the seven-time Pro Bowler.
Brown also got a reworked deal with new money and newer guarantees from the Raiders.
His new contract was for three years and $50.125 million with a maximum value of $54.125 million. Despite his new deal, the former Central Michigan star never played a regular-season game for the Raiders. He was cut by the franchise in Sept. 2019.
