Being the defending champions and smarting from a narrow opening day loss to U Mumba, the Jaipur Pink Panthers were looking to kick start their campaign against the Bengal Warriors in Kolkata. On the aggressive right from the outset, the Pink Panthers established an 8-point lead over the hosts at the half hour mark.

But the Bengal Warriors, cheered on by their home supporters, slowly ate into the lead and enforced an all-out, winning the contest in the buzzer raid by the narrowest of margins. The Warriors triumphed 28-26 to send their fans into raptures.

The Warriors started from where they left off against the defending champions, and found themselves holding a 16-10 lead at half time. But the Titans came out a different outfit in the second half and threatened mightily to reduce the deficit.

The Warriors somehow held on to a 30point lead and looked on course to register another win with just three minutes to play. But Rahul Chaudhari’s two points in the penultimate raid of the game shifted the balance in the Titans’ favour as they fought back to claim a sensational win.

Puneri Paltan kicked off their home leg having already been knocked out of contention for the semi-finals, and faced an opposition with a similar fate in Dabang Delhi. Despite the backing of an ardent home crowd, the Paltan found themselves 11-18 down at half time.

But they were determined to maintain their pride in their own backyard, and the team triggered a Delhi collapse in the second half. The Paltan grabbed the initiative with six minutes to play thanks to an all-out of Dabang Delhi.

They never looked back from there, and registered just their second win of the season when the final whistle went off. It might not have been the most thrilling game, but it meant the world to the Puneri Paltan and their supporters as the smiles were back on their faces – at least for the time being.
