Rayudu came in place of Rahane

Bangladesh created history by winning their first ever bilateral series against India by taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series at home. India after winning the toss elected to bat first in this must win game, but in a rain affected innings, all they could manage is 200. Bangladesh chased it down pretty comfortably to win the match by 6 wickets and hence the series 2-0. With that win, they have ensured their qualification for the 2017 Champions Trophy in England. Here are the five talking points from the game:

#5 Changes galore for Team India

Rayudu came in place of Rahane

Wholesale team changes is not something that you would associate with MS Dhoni. But, he threw a surprise today by making three changes to the playing XI. The one that was discussed by fans and experts for a long time was his decision to drop Ajinkya Rahane.

It’s no secret that Rahane hasn’t been so consistent at number 4, and Dhoni has been reluctant to change the opening combination. Hence, he decided to drop Rahane and bring in Rayudu, a move that failed since the Mumbai Indians batsman got out for a duck.

He also decided to play three spinners, as Axar Patel replaced Mohit Sharma. And then, Umesh Yadav made way for Dhawal Kulkarni.

#4 11 wickets in two matches

Mustafizur once again broke the back of the Indian batting line-up

The 19-year-old was at his best again! He made history by becoming only the second bowler in the history of ODI Cricket to pick two 5-fors in his first two ODI matches. He also became the only bowler to pick up 11 wickets in his first two matches.

He removed Rohit for a duck in the first over, and then came back to dismiss Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, Axar and Ashwin to finish with figures of 6 for 43 in his 10 overs. Watch out for those slower cutters. We are going to see more of it in the future.

#3 The catch that wasn\'t given

Dhawal was very animated on the field

Controversy erupted in just the second over of the run-chase as Virat Kohli claimed that he took a clean catch when Tamim Iqbal charged Dhawal Kulkarni straight at Kohli at mid on.

Replays were not too conclusive, but it also didn’t suggest that the ball bounced before he took the catch. The majority of the audience felt it was out, but since the umpire had signalled ‘not out’ to the third umpire while asking for a review, the decision stood.

The Indians were furious at the decision, and ever since it turned in to a heated clash with Dhawal Kulkarni indulging in several engages.

#2 Shakib to the fore

Shakib stood out once again

Shakib Al-Hasan is undoubtedly Mr.Bangladesh Cricket! He proved it once again tonight as he guided his team to the victory despite losing the likes of Tamim and Mushfiqur. He scored an unbeaten 51 from 62 deliveries and had put up a very important partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim to ensure his team didn’t suffer any more hiccups.

He started off in an aggressive fashion but changed his approach soon to suit his team’s needs. He scored a fifty in the first ODI as well.

#1 Champions Trophy qualification

Players celebrating after winning the series

This news is bigger than the victory for the Bangladesh fans. 12 months ago, not many would have predicted Bangladesh to make it to the 2017 Champions Trophy in England, but now a distant dream has turned into reality with this historical win. They already surprised many people by making it to the quarterfinals of the 2015 World Cup, and now this young side cannot wait to have a crack at the mini World Cup.

They have made it to the tournament ahead of Pakistan and the West Indies (only one of them can qualify now). It was also the first time they managed to beat India in a bilateral series.
