They have undoubtedly made the most of the summer transfer window, bringing in players like Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis. Also, the return of the legendary Didier Drogba back to Chelsea seems to have boosted the locker room morale. With two sensational forwards, a well-composed midfield and undoubtedly the best backline in the league, Chelsea is the only team to have remained unbeaten in all competitions in Europe till now and with the ever-so brilliance of The Special One, Jose Mourinho things might turn out to be more interesting for the Blues this season. Here, in this slideshow, we analyse Chelsea’s chances of winning silverware this season:

#1 Premier League

The Barclays Premier League Trophy

Chelsea have been the invincible force to reckon with in the Premier League so far this season. They’ve already bagged in 29 points from their first 11 fixtures with 9 wins and 2 draws with a goal difference of 17.

Their convincing victories against heavyweights like Arsenal (2-0) at the Bridge, Liverpool (2-1) at Anfield and a 6-3 hammering to Everton at the Goodison Park just prove their mettle among other teams. However, they were stalled to a draw against the both of the Manchester teams with a 1-1 draw at the Etihad and Old Trafford as well.

With some crucial away games coming up for Chelsea against Spurs, Arsenal and of course this season’s surprise, Southampton who’re just next to The Blues in the league table, Chelsea are left to face the rest of the big guns at the Bridge, making their title chase a bit more easy for them. And, to top that off, considering the form and pace Chelsea are in, it wouldn’t be of any surprise if the Blues wrap the title race up before the Easter, winning their 1st Premier League title since the 2009-10 season.

#2 UEFA Champions League

The UEFA Champions League Trophy

Last season, Chelsea stumbled against a Diego Simeone-led Atletico de Madrid during the semi-Final of the UEFA Champions League following a 3-1 aggregate loss, but this season looks like the one where they can turn their fortune and win their second ever Champions League trophy.

Chelsea started their Champions League journey with a 1-1 draw against Schalke 04 at home. This followed with a 1-0 away win for the Blues against Sporting and a 6-0 thrashing of the Slovenian champions at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea now stand on top of the group with 8 points from 4 games after 2 wins and 2 draws to their name. It is safe to say that they have nearly qualified for the knock-outs.

Chelsea’s possible opponent for the Round of 16 might be either Porto or Shakhtar Donetsk. A fixture with either of the two shouldn’t be considered a tough one for Chelsea, considering their current form. Advancing to the finals is what Chelsea should at least aim for which will see the team go against teams like Barcelona, Bayern Munich or the current holders, Real Madrid in the process, but as stated earlier about their form, this team is invincible enough to defeat any European heavyweights.

#3 Capital One Cup

The Capital One Cup

Although Chelsea might have won all its matches in the League Cup, the low tier teams did come up with a challenge for the Blues. Chelsea defeated Bolton Wanderers 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in the 3rd round followed by an away 2-1 win against Shrewsbury Town in the 4th Round of the Capital One Cup.

Chelsea will now face Derby County in the quarter-finals which will most likely not be a tricky match for Jose Mourinho’s side. However, if they are to win all the trophies, they cannot afford to take the tournament lightly, especially in the semi-final where they could be facing clubs like Southampton, Newcastle, Spurs or Liverpool.

A win in this tournament will mean that they lift their 5th ever League title.

#4 FA Cup

The FA Cup

Chelsea begin their FA Cup campaign next year in the 3rd Round of the Cup against a team which is yet to be announced.

The only probable teams that look to be a hurdle in Chelsea’s way to lifting the FA Cup are the Manchester rivals; City and United; Liverpool, Arsenal and Southampton. But keeping in mind the way Chelsea have played against these teams in the Premier League, it looks like Chelsea might just run away with the FA Cup too, completing a historic season of success.
