Video: Joshna Chinappa gives insight on her training routine, superstitions and more

Indian squash ace Joshna Chinappa became the highest ranked Indian in squash, surpassing her fellow partner Dipika Pallikal in the world rankings. The Chennai-born player had a fruitful time in 2015, where she won the Victoria Open and The Mumbai leg of the NSCI Open.

In this video uploaded by Squash India’s Youtube channel, Joshna gives much-needed insight on how and what preparations she does before the match with regards to her diet, gym sessions and so on. She said, “If the match is scheduled to take place in the evening, then I would go and take a hit at the court for some time. Then I would take a quick nap and have something to eat, I like to arrive at the court well before the start time for the match.”

She discusses the importance of warming up nicely before the match in order to take the game to the opponent right from the word go in the 1st set. Joshna also spoke about the coaching methods and further gave spoke about the keys to becoming a successful athlete.

On the funnier side, she also reveals the superstitions that she follows during a tournament, like having the same meal in dinner that she had the previous day if she has won the match.
