Joshna Chinappa: A Brief Biography

Joshna Chinappa is a squash player based in India. She is regarded as the first Indian girl to win the British Squash Championship title in 2003 in the under 19 category, at Sheffield, U.K and was also the youngest Indian women\'s national champion. Chinappa is the first beneficiary of the 40 core Mittal Champions Trust. In May 2012, Joshna defeated Sarah Jane Perry of England 9-11, 11-4, 11-8, 12-10, to win the Chennai Open. She was the winner of the India National Junior and Senior Championships as well as Malaysian Junior in 2004. She took home the bronze medal in the 2004 Asian Championships. She was adjudged the winner of the Asian Junior and British Junior Open in 2005. A trainee of the Indian Squash Academy (erstwhile ICL academy), Chennai, Joshna is currently ranked 32 in the world.
