Zagreb, Nov 28 (IANS) Argentina's non-playing tennis captain Daniel Orsanic has said the team unity enabled them to win their maiden Davis Cup final.

Argentina won the Davis Cup by beating Croatia 3-2 here on Sunday, reports Xinhua.

"We are very happy, this group represents all of Argentine tennis. Argentine tennis has won, Argentinean sport has won," said Orsanic to the press after the win.

The leader of the squad added that "today is a day that we have wanted to live for a long time".

Argentina beat Croatia after Juan Martin del Potro saw off Marin Cilic 6-7 (4), 2-6, 7-5, 6-4, 6-3 and Federico Delbonis beat Ivo Karlovic 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in the last two singles matches.

The fate of the squad did not look good going into the second day, when Croatia led 2-1 on Saturday after winning the doubles matches.

Speaking to TyC Sports, a Buenos Aires channel, the captain beamed that "the heart of Juan Martin is huge and Delbonis' match was perfect".

Addressing Del Potro's comeback from two sets down against Cilic, a jubilant Orsanic said that it was "the comeback of history".

Delbonis, who won the final match, said: "I still can't believe it."

"I got the chance to fight for the final point, and I did it with honour," he said.
