Djokovic secures the year ending world no. 1 spot

Novak Djokovic secured the year ending World No. 1 ranking with an easy straight sets win over Tomas Berdych. The Serb won his last encounter of the group 6-2, 6-2 to enter the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Finals.

Djokovic was on song throughout the game. He secured a double break in the first and second set as he toyed around with Berdych. After finishing top of the group, Djokovic is set to face Kei Nishikori in the semi-finals.

"I hoped I could continue playing the way I did in the first two matches, there was a lot at stake today," Djokovic said in his on-court interview. "I knew I would stay No.1 with a win. It's been a long year, an incredible achievement. I want to thank my team, my family and all the people who supported me all the way through. Being No.1 in the world is one of the most difficult and biggest challenges a player can have, so it's incredibly fulfilling, I'm very happy with it."

This is the third time in four years the Serb has ended the year as the world no. 1 and now he is looking to win his third straight ATP Finals title.
