Serena Williams was a commanding presence during the first half of the 2023 Super Bowl as she paid homage to classic films during her two commercials.

In her commercial for Rémy Martin Cognac, Serena Williams took on the role played by Al Pacino in the 1999 football classic, Any Given Sunday. The commercial celebrates the iconic "Inch by Inch" speech given by Pacino's character to motivate his players to play as a team.

Similarly, in the commercial, Williams addresses a football team in an endeavor to imbibe some team spirit in them before they return to the field.

"We claw with our fingernails for that inch because we know when we add up all those inches, that’s going to make the f**king difference between winning and losing," the American recited the famous lines.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion only recited an excerpt from the legendary speech, while the original speech given by Al Pacino went on for four minutes and thirty seconds.

The advertisement featured an impressive lineup of great athletes, including Alex Morgan from the U.S. Women's National Team, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, and professional boxer Canelo Álvarez as co-stars.

Serena Williams retired from professional tennis at the 2022 US Open. The 41-year-old holds the record for the highest number of Grand Slam championships in the Open Era with 23 titles and is widely regarded as one of the greatest female athletes of all time.

Serena Williams recently opened up about her decision to retire despite still being able to compete at a high level on the WTA circuit.

"Actually, I did play the other day, and it's just like, 'There's no way I shouldn't be playing professional tennis. Like, there's literally no excuse. But I mean, I guess there is an excuse, right?," Williams said.

The American spoke about having no regrets about her decision because it was always her intention to retire while she was still healthy and able to compete to maintain a good quality of life.

"I always wanted to leave the game playing at a very high level. But it's hard because it's like, 'Oh my gosh, I could still play, and I could still do all that stuff.'....But I'm inch by inch leaning away, inch by inch embracing it."
