Serena’s first Grand Slam


The 23-time GrandSlam winner Serena Williams feels that her 1999’s US Open always holds a special place as it was her very first grand slam victory. Serena Williams had a breakthrough during the 1999 season defeating Martina Hingis in the final, 6–3, 7–6.


Serena’s singles victories


After her first grand slam victory Serena grabbed the 2002 title by defeating her sister Venus Williams,6-4, 6-3


In 2008 Serena Williams defeated Jelena Jankovic with a score of 6-4, 7-5 and after which she had a hat-trick victory winning 2012, 2013 and 2014 titles.


Serena Williams won the women's singles tennis championship at the 2012 US Open by defeating Victoria Azarenka 6-2, 2-6, and 7-5 in the championship match. In the third set, Azarenka had a 5-3 advantage and was serving for the title. The final went to three sets for the first time since 1995.


In 2013 Serena dominated the clay court season, winning five titles and all 28 of her matches there to record her 34th straight victory. Her victory defeating Victoria Azarenka , 7-6, 6-7, 6-1 was an amazing one.


Again in 2014, Serena defeated Caroline Wozniacki with a score of 6-3, 6-3.


Serena Williams's doubles victory at the US Open


Serena and Venus Williams won the women's doubles tennis championship at the 1999 US Open by defeating Chanda Rubin and Sandrine Testud 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the championship match.


In the 2009 US Open Women's Doubles championship match, Serena Williams and Venus Williams won 6-2, 6-2 over the reigning winners Cara Black and Liezel Huber.


Serena’s mixed doubles victories at the US Open


At the 1998 US Open, Serena Williams and Max Mirnyi won the mixed doubles tennis competition by defeating Lisa Raymond and Patrick Galbraith 6-2, 6-2.
