Coco Gauff early life
Coco Gauff, who was raised in Atlanta but was born in Delray Beach, Florida, started playing tennis at the age of six. As per the official website of the US Open, Gauff explained why she chose tennis, saying:
"I wasn't much of a team person. I loved tennis. I was so-so about it in the beginning because, when I was younger, I didn't want to practice at all. I just wanted to play with my friends."
Gauff's family relocated to Delray Beach when she was seven to take advantage of the greater training opportunities. At the New Generation Tennis Academy, she began working with Gerard Loglo when she was eight years old. The American prodigy's parents left their careers to devote their time to raising their daughter. Gauff started training at the Mouratoglou Academy in France when he was ten. Through the Champ'Seed Foundation, which Mouratoglou established to support gifted kids who couldn't afford expensive training, Coco Gauff was partially sponsored.
Gauff, a former No. 1 junior in the world, won the USTA Clay Court National 12-and-under championship at the age of 10 to become the youngest champion ever. She made her WTA Tour debut in March 2019 at the Miami Open. In the 2019 Wimbledon Championships qualifying round, she was given a wild card and qualified for the main draw as the tournament's youngest participant in history. Gauff reached the third round of the 2019 US Open later that summer at the age of 15, and she also won her first-ever WTA Tour singles championship at the 2019 Linz Open.

Coco Gauff coaching staff
Matt Daly and Jean Christophe Faurel are the coaches of Coco Gauff as of May 2025. With her fourth-round defeat at the 2024 US Open, there were rumours that Gauff would split from her coach Brad Gilbert. A few weeks later, she announced on social media that she and Brad Gilbert were no longer working together. She added that she needed to refresh her coaching structure. Gauff will be working with Daly alongside her long-term coach Jean-Christophe Faurel.
Daly played collegiate tennis for the University of Notre Dame. Before joining Gauff's team, he coached Denis Shapovalov. The duo of Gauff and Daly started on a positive note as she won her second WTA 1000 title at the China Open in 2024. In the same season, she advanced to the semifinal of the WTA Finals after her win against former No. 1 Iga Swiatek.
Pere Riba, a former Spanish player who was a former World No. 65 in singles, was her coach until 2023. Along with Pere, renowned coach Brad Gilbert joined her team as a consultant.
Coco Gauff previously discussed her opinions about working with Brad in April 2023, indicating that she believes she has a strong team.
“He’s someone that I want to continue with,” she explained. “I feel stable. I feel like I have improved. I don’t know, in this match, I feel like I have improved a lot since Wimbledon.”
Coco Gauff diet
Before her matches at the 2023 U.S. Open, Coco Gauff revealed to Women's Health the food items that support her workouts and enable her to compete with the finest tennis players in the world. Gauff's first meal of the day consists of a proportionate amount of protein and carbohydrates.
“Today, I had eggs, potatoes, sausage, and fruit,” Gauff stated. “That's usually what (breakfast) looks like.” (via Women's Health)
The 2023 US Open champion's lunch is "always different," particularly depending on whether she has a match that day. When the tournament is on, pasta is the only option.
“I just love pasta, and I feel like it's an easy way to fuel,” says Gauff. When she isn't getting ready for a tennis match, she prefers a hearty bowl of rice or beans, chicken, and avocado. Dinner usually consists of protein-rich food, like fish or chicken, with vegetables when she's in the middle of a season. Coco doesn't eat much red meat, "but every now and then" she enjoys a steak.
