Novak Djokovic beat Bernard Tomic 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 to book a place in the fourth round at Wimbledon.
The World No. 1, who is loking for his third Wimbledon title outplayed Tomic in rallies throughout the match. The Australian looked to make inroads into Djokovic’s serve in the second game stretching the Serb to deuce, but couldn’t take the lead in the early goings of the match.
Tomic sent a weak forehand to the net and was broken in the fourth game to give Djokovic a 3-1 lead. The Australian committed two unforced errors in the ninth game to hand Djokovic the first set.
Tomic did his best to stay on serve in the second set, but Djokovic won one of the longest rallies of the match when the 22-year-old netted his backhand. Djokovic was not to be denied on his second set point opportunity as he displayed superb defensive skills to come out on top.
Tomic again dug deep from 15-40 to deuce in the sixth game of the third set, but the World No.1 got what would prove to be a decisive break. Djokovic finished things off with an ace down the T to progress to the second week in Wimbledon for the seventh straight year.
Djokovic will face Kevin Anderson in the fourth round. Anderson beat Leonardo Mayer 6-4, 7-6 (6), 6-3.
