Vikas Krishan loses semi final bout

World Youth Boxing Champion Vikas Krishan was tamed by his Lithuanian opponent Petrauskas Evaldas by a narrow margin of 4:3 points in the semifinals of the 60 kgs (Light Weight category) of the 1st Youth Olympic Games Boxing at Singapore. In the World Youth Championships at Baku, Vikas had defeated the Lithuanian by the same identical margin of 4:3 pts to clinch the Gold. This time Petrauskas got his revenge and edged out Vikas. Vikas Krishan now has to play against Echeverria Daniel of Mexico on 24 August, who was the other losing semifinalist in 60 kgs. The winner will get the Bronze Medal (Third Place) and the loser will be awarded the 4th place.

Shiva Thapa’s opponent in the finals of the 54 kgs on 25 August has been identified as Ramirez Robeisy Eloy of Cuba who defeated Michelus Dawid of Poland in the other semifinals of today. Incidentally Shiva Thapa had lost to the Cuban Boxer at the Youth World Championships at Baku and had to settle for the Silver Medal there. Now is an opportunity to take revenge of that earlier defeat and try and win the Gold Medal for India.
