Josh Thomson doubts whether UFC star Conor McGregor will fight again

Conor McGregor has been enjoying some time away from the octagon since suffering a career-threatening leg break in his trilogy against Dustin Poirier. Former UFC fighter Josh Thomson recently shared his doubts about whether the lightweight will ever fight again.

'Notorious' headed into his third clash with 'The Diamond' after suffering a shock knockout in their rematch six months earlier, but the outcome of the trilogy almost forced him to retire from the sport. According to the man himself, the bone in his leg had a chance of not bonding during recovery, which would cause lifelong complications.

During a recent episode of the WEIGHING IN podcast, Thomson expressed his belief that Conor McGregor may never make the walk to the cage again and claimed he uses social media to stay relevant:

"He wants to get back in there and fight. I mean, I don't know if we're gonna see him fight again. Maybe we will, maybe we won't. It just seems like he's keeping himself entertained. I feel like he uses social media to keep the attention on him when he's off, which is good. That's a marketing tool, that's what it's meant for. Social media was meant to build your brands... He's doing it, that's the way he's doing it. Good for him."

Conor McGregor may be comfortable away from competing, having recently gotten his break in Hollywood, a dream arguably held by the majority of athletes and performers.

While not much is known about his role in the movie, the Irishman will star alongside Daniela Melchior and Jake Gyllenhaal in the upcoming remake of the 1989 action flick 'Road House'.
