American football quarterback CJ Stroud plays for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He has a number of records at Ohio State, including being the first person to throw for six touchdowns three times and the highest passing yards in a single game (573). In 2021 and 2022, Stroud also made the finals for the Heisman Trophy.

He agreed to play collegiate football at Ohio State University. As Justin Fields' backup at Ohio State, Stroud red-shirted his first year. In 2020, he only took part in one snap, but that resulted in a rushing touchdown of 48 yards.

CJ Stroud eclipsed Fields to move into second place on the Ohio State career passing touchdowns chart on October 8, 2022, when he threw six touchdown passes against Michigan State, setting a conference record for "most (3) six passing touchdown games in a career.

The 21-year-old passed for 3,688 yards, 41 touchdowns, and six interceptions last season. He had a total of 12 interceptions throughout his time in college.

CJ Stroud was a finalist for the Heisman award at the end of the 2022 regular season. He was placed third, trailing only USC's Caleb Williams and TCU's Max Duggan. Stroud declared on January 16, 2023, that he would skip his final two years of collegiate eligibility and declare for the 2023 NFL Draft instead.

CJ Stroud graduated from Rancho Cucamonga High School. He passed for 3,878 yards and 47 touchdowns as a senior, winning offensive player of the year honors from the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. He was the Elite 11's MVP for the year 2019.

Stroud was chosen to participate in the 2020 All-American Bowl. He was initially classified as a three-star prospect, graduated from high school as his class' third-best quarterback.
