5 Final dream opponents for The Shield in WWE

This past week on Monday Night Raw, the trio of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose- infamously known as The Shield- reunited the one final time in order to prepare themselves for battle against the trio of Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, and Drew McIntyre at Fastlane.

Now in case, you aren't too familiar with this supposed one final Shield reunion, well that's because former WWE Champion, Dean Ambrose is reportedly on his way out of WWE after WrestleMania 35 and that's something WWE has publicly acknowledged as well.

With 'The Lunatic Fringe' on his way out of the company and Seth Rollins already scheduled to a match against 'The Beast' Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 for the Universal Championship, it is likely that at Fastlane, 'The Hounds of Justice' will be teaming up for the one final time.

However, we know for the fact that the Raw after 'Mania always turns out as one of the wildest shows' of all time and this also gives WWE the perfect opportunity to host a farewell for Dean Ambrose and the best way to do so would be to make sure he teams up with his Shield brethren the one last time on WWE Television.

The WWE Universe themselves would appreciate Ambrose going out with a bang and having The Shield team up for one last match following 'Mania 35 wouldn't do much harm. Now, big question is, who will The Shield and specifically Dean Ambrose face in his final match for the WWE?

In this article, I will take an in-depth look at 5 trios who could possibly step up to the plate in order to challenge The Shield for their farewell match in WWE.

#5 Aleister Black, Ricochet, and The Velveteen Dream

Velveteen Dream, Ricochet, and Aleister Black

By the time we are done and dusted with WrestleMania 35, there is a very high possibility that the newly called up NXT duo of Aleister Black and Ricochet could find themselves wrapped in gold, in the form of the Raw Tag Team Championships.

Black and Ricochet are all set to challenge The Revival at Fastlane and if they are somehow unable to capture the belts this week, then chances are that the popular NXT duo will be challenging The Revival in a Tag Team Match (this time with the exclusion of a third party) at WrestleMania 35.

If Black and Ricochet are to win the Raw Tag Team Titles then they could very well consider themselves as worthy challengers of The Shield and by having current NXT North American Champion, The Velveteen Dream join them side-by-side will be a sight to behold.

#4 British Strong Style

Trent Seven, Pete Dunne, and Tyler Bate

The WWE Universe sure does love surprises and current WWE UK Champion, Pete Dunne has already made a few surprise appearances on the main roster so far. Dunne first appeared in 2017 when he challenged and defeated then-Cruiserweight Champion, Enzo Amore and very recently also entered this year's Men's Royal Rumble Match as well.

So what's stopping 'The Bruiserweight' from making another shocking main roster appearance? Dunne is already scheduled to defend his WWE UK Title prior to 'Mania 35 at TakeOver: New York and could be in jeopardy of losing his title to NXT UK's newest signee Walter.

Given the fact that Dunne actually drops his title to the big Austrian, then 'The Bruiserweight' could very well bring a few friends along with him on the main roster in the form of Moustache Moutain, that is, the duo of Tyler Bate and Trent Seven.

British Strong Style and The Shield could put on an instant classic and the WWE Universe would be invested in getting a closer look at UK's finest.

#3 The Balor Club

Luke Gallows, Finn Balor, and Karl Anderson

Now, this one might be a bit strange, given that both Gallows and Anderson are currently signed under SmackDown Live. However, following 'Mania 35, The Good Brothers could jump ship to the red brand, one week prior to the Superstar Shake-up and reunite with current Intercontinental Champion and their former Bullet Club frontman, Finn Balor.

Balor, Gallows, and Anderson could possibly be the next big top trio of WWE, replacing The Shield at the very top and there definitely isn't a better way other than to knock off The Hounds of Justice off their pinnacle by challenging them on their show and defeating them in front of a red hot WWE Universe.

Honorable Mention:

The Club

Luke Gallows, AJ Styles, and Karl Anderson

The reason why I've decided to put The Club as an honorable mention is because of the fact that AJ Styles is likely to stick with SmackDown Live and there is absolutely no reason for him to jump ship to Raw after WrestleMania 35.

However, there is indeed one little thing WWE could do and that is to have Styles, Gallows, and Anderson appear on Raw for one night only and have them get in the face of The Shield, like the bad, mean heels they used to be back in the day and eventually challenge them to a match.

The Club has previously gone toe-to-toe with the trio of Roman Reigns and The Usos and having them face-off against The Shield will definitely be bonkers!

#2 The Wyatt Family

Rivalry reignited?

Bray Wyatt has been absent from WWE TV for quite some time now and despite making sporadic appearances on Live Events and House Shows, WWE is yet to reintroduce 'The Eater of Worlds' back on TV.

However, the night after WrestleMania 35 could be the perfect way to bring back Wyatt on TV and if WWE hopes to make an immediate impact over Wyatt's return then have him reunite the family and challenge The Shield one final time.

At the peak stage of their careers, both The Shield and The Wyatts were two of the most dominating factions' on WWE TV and faced each other on numerous occasions on WWE TV and not to mention, the two groups produced absolute classics against each other.

Having The Shield face The Wyatt Family one final time will not only run back the clock but it is likely that the two groups will produce another instant classic and honestly, I don't see another better way for The Shield to go out...

#1 The Undisputed Era

Roderick Strong, Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, and Bobby Fish

...Or maybe I do see one last better way for The Shield to go out!

Ever since making their main roster debut in 2012, The Shield has been dominating. That's the one word which drives all three members of the group and also motivates the trio as a whole as well.

The Shield has dominated every superstar who stepped in their path, they have powerbombed multiple superstars and have held all the belts WWE has to offer. It indeed has been their yard for quite some time now, to be honest.

However, another group, which has been dominating in the exact same manner but on the developmental scene, is none other than The Undisputed Era. Initially formed in 2017, The Undisputed Era has similarly grown not only in numbers but in terms of confidence as well.

The group currently consists of four of the best wrestlers' in the world in Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O'Reilly, and Bobby Fish. All four men have been dominant and their only motive is to be draped in gold.

Now, you surely don't expect to win gold on your first night on the main roster (well unless you're Paige) but another solid way to get The Undisputed Era off to a flying start on the main roster is by having them take out The Shield and defeat them in their final match, which also will be TUE's first match on the main roster.

Adam Cole and co. could produce a historic win over The Shield and mark the beginning of a new era in the WWE by taking out The Shield and introducing themselves in style to the entire WWE Universe.

And that boys and girls will truly be Undisputed!
