5 Reasons Seth Rollins should turn Heel

Fans know him as the Architect, the King Slayer, and lately, the Beast Slayer.

Long-time fans remember him as Tyler Black from his days in Ring of Honor and the independent circuit. During his time in the independent promotions, many fans believed that he would never work for the WWE.

There were many reasons for this. For one, At six feet and just over two hundred pounds, Seth Rollins was 'too small' for the WWE. Also, like many indie scene darlings, he was more known for delivering in-ring performances than playing one of the larger than life characters the WWE tends to favor.

Last but not the least, many fans were already familiar with Seth Rollins, and thus he would not be considered 'homegrown' WWE talent.

But in the world of sports entertainment, there's no such thing as never. Seth Rollins not only signed with the WWE, he has been fabulously successful. Currently, he is the WWE Raw Universal Champion.

Rollins has flip-flopped between heel and baby face more than any other Shield member. These days he's the top babyface on Raw, but is this the best role for him?

Many fans and critics think Seth Rollins should return to being a heel. Here are five reasons they might be right.

#1 His actions of late have been heelish

Seth Rollins smashes Elias with a steel chair, not stopping because of a referee shirt.

Seth Rollins, first and foremost, hasn't been acting like a traditional babyface.

Take his actions leading up to Stomping Grounds. It was obvious that Baron Corbin was going to pick a biased referee for their title match at the pay per view. Seth Rollins responded by attacking each of Corbin's picks with a steel chair, brutalizing them until they decided discretion was the better part of valor.

While this may have been a smart strategy, it' s not what a babyface wrestler should do. A babyface champion would accept the biased referee and heroically overcome the situation to be victorious. Seth attacking the special referees was a heel tactic, and not in keeping with the standard 'good guy' practices in pro wrestling.

#2 He looks like a dastardly villain

Be honest. Would you want this man dating your daughter?

Seth Rollins just has one of those faces that makes you think 'villain.'

Perhaps it's the mustache and beard, or the long wavy hair. Or maybe it's the intense stare and protruding brow.

It's unclear exactly why the particular features of Seth Rollins make him seem like such a total bad guy, but they do. It's not Seth Rollins's fault, not in the least. He can't help the face he was born with.

And it's not like he's an ugly man. Far from it. But like as not, he just has the appearance of a villain. The propensity of Seth Rollins to wear all black and label himself with fill in the blank slayer certainly doesn't help matters any, either. This guy just looks like a heel wrestler.

#3 Seth's intensity and fiery disposition better suit a heel role

Seth Rollins appears to be quite angry in this picture. In fact, he seems to be quite angry a lot of the time these days.

When you think babyface wrestlers, you often think of men and women who are at the least somewhat personable.

It just makes sense that someone who can connect with the fans and garner their sympathy makes a good babyface wrestler. After all, the good guys in film and fiction, while flawed, are often still the kind of people fans would want to sit down and have a beer with.

It's hard to imagine sitting down with the intense, usually angry Seth Rollins for a beer or any other type of beverage, for that matter. He's got the type of personality during his performances that just screams bad guy. Seth snarls, Seth yells, and Seth attacks people when he doesn't get his way.

These are the actions of a heel, not a babyface.

#4 He's only a babyface because Roman Reigns went to Smackdown Live

Roman Reigns had been the top babyface on Monday Night Raw, a role which now belongs to Seth Rollins.

Seth Rollins was not the top babyface on Raw at this time last year. Not even close.

That role went to Roman Reigns, the Shield member who has been superman punching and spearing his way into the hearts of millions ever since the Shield broke up--the first time.

Reigns has his detractors, but he has the right attributes for a babyface. He's courageous, fights for what's right, and is the idol of little children around the world.

Reigns also never cheats something that Seth Rollins is more than willing to do, even when he's working as a babyface. His assault on Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 may have been effective--it earned him the name of Beast Slayer--but it was not the action of a good guy.

When Reigns jumped to SmackDown Live, it left a void on Raw for type babyface. This void was filled by Seth Rollins, a man who works much better as a heel.

#5 Seth Rollins as a babyface has already grown stale

Some people think than the WWE has acknowledged Seth Rollins's relationship with the ultra-popular Becky Lynch to make him more popular.

Seth Rollins as a babyface went over well during the build-up to WrestleMania 35 because of the fact that so many fans can't stand Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar has been getting a lot of heat from fans due to this part-time status and the perception--right or wrong--that he doesn't work as hard as he used to. Then there's the fact that WWE has been pushing Brock Lesnar as the top heel in the company for years, aided by his advocate Paul Heyman's gift of gab.

Seth was cheered and treated as a hero when he dethroned Brock Lesnar to capture the WWE Raw Universal championship at WrestleMania 35, but quickly afterward Seth, the babyface grew stale.

Perhaps that is why WWE has been pairing him on screen with Becky Lynch so much. Rollins and The Man have been in a real-life romance for months, but only recently has the WWE begun to use it in their storylines. This might be in hopes that Lynch's insane popularity will rub off on Seth Rollins.

Whatever the case, sooner or later, the two will have to be put into separate storylines, and then it might just be time to have a heel Seth Rollins once again.
