5 reasons why The Miz replaced Daniel Bryan as  Bray Wyatt's opponent at WWE TLC 2019

It's official. As per the rumors, The Miz has officially replaced Daniel Bryan at TLC. While the original plan was for Bryan to renew his rivalry with Bray Wyatt, it seems like that isn't the case anymore and The Miz will be facing Bray Wyatt (and not The Fiend).

Interestingly enough, the match will not be for the Universal Championship. It's going to be The Miz vs Bray Wyatt in a non-title match and perhaps that's because it's a storyline that doesn't have anything to do with the title.

We wish the WWE Universal title was on the line and hope that the stipulation changes in the coming week. Either way, many fans have been wondering why The Miz of all people replaced Daniel Bryan at TLC to face Bray Wyatt.

Here are a few major reasons why The Miz is facing Bray Wyatt at TLC and not Daniel Bryan.

#5 He was supposed to face Bray Wyatt at Survivor Series 2019

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plan for Survivor Series 2019 was for The Fiend Bray Wyatt to face and squash The Miz. Interestingly, it was the original plan, to begin with, but thankfully, they decided to go with Daniel Bryan vs The Fiend instead.

As we saw, it turned out to be a fantastic match and was a great one in terms of storyline and character progression for Daniel Bryan as a babyface. Daniel Bryan, being Daniel Bryan, managed to make the match work even with all the red lights. The crowd was big on Daniel Bryan and the "Yes!" chants began to take form again.

The reason for the match being made now is probably because it was inevitable in the first place. The Miz was involved in the story indirectly, to begin with.

#4 Daniel Bryan was given the rest of the year off to recover

We may not see Daniel Bryan till 2020

Last week may have been the last we've seen of Daniel Bryan for 2019. It's unfortunate, we know, but just like any person with a job, time off is always essential. For Daniel Bryan, WWE will be even more inclined to give him time off because they know that they have to be careful with protecting him and making sure he doesn't suffer any major physical injury.

Moreover, they would be virtually guaranteed to have a stipulation match at TLC and they probably didn't want Bryan to be taking any major bumps before the year ends. As a result of that, they realized that giving him December off to recover from any potentially niggling injuries.

This is, of course, more speculation but given the incredible year that Daniel Bryan has had in 2019, he certainly deserves a month off to spend time with his family. He's been an integral part of WWE programming throughout the year, both as a heel and a babyface.

#3 To be able to renew the Bryan-Wyatt feud at Royal Rumble

An inevitable clash again

It's crazy to think that it was only this time last year when AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan were having an incredible feud for the WWE title. That feud is now Daniel Bryan vs The Fiend and it's for the other World Championship.

Incredibly, Bryan is still in the World title picture after all this time, but for those who have followed him for all these years, it's no surprise that he still performs at the highest level.

Either way, giving him time off for the rest of the month is the perfect set-up for him to return early in January and return for a major Royal Rumble rivalry. Perhaps it would be best for Bryan to return at the end of the year, but SmackDown is strong enough where they can go a few weeks without him.

Royal Rumble is the perfect place to restart the feud and conclude it in a big way as well.

#2 The Miz made most storyline sense at this point

The Miz

If you were to be asked, which superstar would be best to replace Daniel Bryan to face The Fiend at TLC, who would you suggest? The Miz is not only a babyface, but he has been directly involved with Daniel Bryan for a good part of his storyline against The Fiend.

He is the one who has been intertwined with Bryan throughout and the two men have a lot of history together as well. It's just that this time around, their feud, so to speak, has taken a different turn. Both men are babyfaces who dislike each other, but even The Miz has had to put his ego aside to admit Bryan's importance to the SmackDown brand and the company in general.

It's certainly an interesting development as a whole and the reality is that no other superstar made storyline sense to suddenly replace Daniel Bryan in such a situation. And the storyline is beyond any title, it's more of a personal grudge feud.

#1 Perfect babyface to make Bray Wyatt look good

Bray Wyatt

This will be the big in-ring return of Bray Wyatt. That's right. We won't be seeing The Fiend wrestle like we have every month since this past summer. For some reason, which we're not too sure of, WWE probably decided to hold back on The Fiend until the Royal Rumble 2019 and the good news about that is that we probably won't be seeing the red light.

That's the best thing that can happen, especially since we don't anticipate Wyatt and Miz having great chemistry in the ring. What the match will be, however, is a masterclass of in-ring psychology and we could see a side of The Miz that we've never seen before.

With that said, it's not like The Miz is going to win. Even if it's not for the Universal Championship, Bray Wyatt is likely going to squash The Miz as planned and The A-Lister is the perfect babyface to make him look good.
