According to Fightful and reported by Mike Johnson of PW Insider, Scarlett Bordeaux has requested her release from Impact Wrestling.
Scarlett Bordeaux is probably one of the more successful stars in Impact Wrestling. She created a buzz as soon as she debuted. Her gimmick, "The Smokeshow", harkened back to the overtly sexual overtones of the WWE's attitude era. At the same time, it was a homage as well as a parody of WWE's women wrestlers of that era.
As most fans may know, WWE's female wrestlers have evolved since then and have main-evented WrestleMania 35.
Recently, Scarlett Bordeaux made her in-ring debut against Glenn Gilbertti (Disco Inferno) at Against All Odds on March 29, 2019. She defeated him via a running powerbomb. Scarlett is quite agile in the ring and has actually honed her craft on the indie circuit.
As reported by Mike Johnson of PW Insider, Scarlett Bordeaux has asked for her release from Impact wrestling. It's understood that her deal is a pay-per-appearance and is set to expire in the summer. It's unknown at this time whether she will be granted her release.
Similar reports have arisen with Killer Kross also rumored to have asked for his release when not getting a requested pay raise. It's also understood that Gursinder Singh asked for his release last month.
It's quite alarming that several wrestlers from Impact Wrestling have asked for their release. In the case of Scarlett Bordeaux, it's reasonable to speculate that she can benefit from a larger platform.
With AEW looking to fill their roster with more female wrestlers, it's a possibility that she could end up there. Cody Rhodes has stated in interviews that Eric Bischoff has advised him to make his show a buffet, providing something for everyone. Scarlett Bordeaux could certainly provide that variety they're looking for.
