RAW Preview: Unexpected opponents to have huge brawl, 8-time World Champion makes last appearance as Champion? (30th March 2020)

The Road to WrestleMania is over. It feels different talking and writing about it this time around, especially since every year, we anticipate the biggest show with history-making moments, epic coronations, and in short, the biggest entertainment extravaganza.

Instead, the prevailing circumstances have meant that we've spent most of the month watching shows take place inside the empty WWE Performance Center. We certainly don't blame WWE for that decision and in hindsight, the PC turned out to be one of their best investments in years, and it's even more so given the amount of talent that's been made inside that building.

Either way, the 30th of March will be the go-home show for WrestleMania 36, which means that the biggest show of the year is less than a week away. Despite the circumstances, one can't deny that WWE has put together an impressive card in terms of the marquee matches, despite a lot of changes happening.

Either way, the lack of spoilers means that there's still a lot to look forward to and here's what's happening on the RAW before WrestleMania:

#6. A confrontation between unexpected opponents

Aleister Black with a big challenge ahead of him

While it was clear that there weren't any big plans for Aleister Black at WrestleMania 36, nobody seemed to know why the two were booked against each other. Either way, Lashley will have to go up against a Superstar with a lot of momentum right now.

Black will be the favorite, but we fully expect a confrontation between the two to build to their match at WrestleMania 36. A brawl may break out, but the big question is as to who is going to stand tall between the two.

We feel that this match has a chance of being a good one.

#5. Brock Lesnar drops by the Performance Center ahead of a big main event

What awaits The Beast Incarnate?

The last three editions of WrestleMania has seen Brock Lesnar in a World Championship match, the first in 2017 kickstarting his historic Universal Championship reign, while the second saw him defeat Roman Reigns in a result that many considered an upset. Last year, he went from closing the show to opening it, facing Seth Rollins and losing the Universal Championship in just over two minutes.

Since it's Brock Lesnar, he wouldn't go too long without a World title and his WWE Championship win in October 2019 marked his eighth World Championship victory. He's set to go up against an opponent like none other - Drew McIntyre in the main event of Night 1 at WrestleMania 36.

Brock Lesnar is set to make his final pre-WrestleMania RAW appearance, but given that a staredown with Drew McIntyre is expected, this could be his last RAW as the WWE Champion. We'll either see the change of guard or continued unparalleled dominance from Brock Lesnar.

#4. Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins to stand-off ahead of the culmination of a 4-month rivalry

It's all coming to an end soon
Ad

This is a match that would have a lot more hype had the show taken place at the Raymond James Stadium. Two veterans of the independent scene who made it to WWE after years of hard work would go on to become top stars in their own right - with both finding World Championship success as well.

While it's been over three years since Kevin Owens was the Universal Champion, he's come a long way and since December, he's been tangled up with Seth Rollins. He was one of the few locker room members to stand up to Seth Rollins and stick around when The Architect was standing in the middle of the ring and berating the RAW roster for their abysmal Survivor Series performance.

In hindsight, Owens got a lot of things right, but over the months, he's had to enlist help from multiple Superstars, including Samoa Joe, The Viking Raiders, and The Street Profits to fight Rollins and his trio - The AoP and Murphy.

With rumors of Rezar getting surgery and being out of action and Murphy potentially not being cleared, the battlefield at WrestleMania will end the rivalry the way it started - one-on-one.

This episode of RAW will see them have their final stand-off to end their rivalry.

#3. Becky Lynch set for the biggest title defense of her year-long reign

It's been close to a year since Becky Lynch has been RAW Women's Champion. As she reaches WrestleMania 36, she will complete exactly a year as Champion, even if she's lost. Looking back at it, The Man's win at WrestleMania 36 would see her have an unprecedented year-long reign with the RAW Women's Championship - a feat that nobody achieved before her, including Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, and Ronda Rousey.

In her reign as RAW Women's Champion, she's successfully gone through Lacey Evans, Sasha Banks, and a woman who she never defeated before January 2020 - Asuka. It seemed to be just a matter of time before Shayna Baszler would debut, especially after her incredible NXT Women's Championship reign ended at the hands of Rhea Ripley.

Shayna Baszler was quick to make a statement, targeting the RAW Women's Champion before making history at Elimination Chamber by being the first Superstar to eliminate all other Superstars competing inside the Chamber.

While Becky Lynch got the better of Baszler last week, she's set to square off and make a statement before the biggest match of her title reign.

#2. Edge returns after Randy Orton accepted the Last Man Standing match

Will Edge go face-to-face with Randy Orton
Ad

Every year, there's always one rivalry in WrestleMania that stands out as the most personal one. Last year, it was undoubtedly Kofi Kingston vs Daniel Bryan - especially given the intensity and emotion behind it.

This year, it's Edge vs Randy Orton. It's still surreal to see Edge back and legitimately competing in the ring again after nine long years away. Orton has made the rivalry more personal than ever by nearly ending Edge's career the night after the Royal Rumble, but things went from bad to worse when he hit an RKO on his wife Beth Phoenix.

Last week, Orton cut an intense promo where he declared that he accepted the challenge and Edge will return to RAW for the go-home episode before WrestleMania 36. While Orton narrowly escaped Edge a few weeks ago, it won't be surprising to see the two go to war ahead of the Hall of Famer's big return match in six days.

#1. Will we find out what a 'Boneyard' match is?

The Undertaker
Ad

The Undertaker has been making waves recently, being one of the most talked-about Superstars in WWE aside from Roman Reigns (and for very different reasons at that). His big change in appearance caused shockwaves and there's a lot of anticipation for his match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36.

It's a match that we never thought we'd see before, yet here we are. There are even reports about The Undertaker being in top physical shape, which means that AJ Styles could be in jeopardy at WrestleMania 36.

AJ Styles challenged The Undertaker to a 'Boneyard match' last week and just like you, we're clueless as to what that is. Hopefully, we'll get an explanation this week, but AJ Styles is a man who isn't safe. The Undertaker is expected to appear on the RAW before WrestleMania 36 and will look to make a statement ahead of the show that he's dominated for nearly three decades.

Will The OC be able to get one over the future Hall of Famer?
