2015 Japan Open Superseries - Who will win the battle of Indians?

Will Parupalli Kashyap make it 2-0?

India had a mediocre Day two of the 2015 Japan Open Superseries with the two top contenders in the form of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa and PV Sindhu crashing out in the opening round of the competitions.

But later in the day, there was some cheer for Indian fans as Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy progressed through to the second round while Parupalli Kashyap progressed through after his opponent Takuma Ueda had to retire hurt with just 5 points into the opening game.

Two other contenders in the Men’s Singles contingent – Ajay Jayaram and Sai Praneeth also bowed out of the competition as did the other Women's doubles duo of Pradnya Gadre and Sikki Reddy.

Thursday will see Saina face of against Minatsu Mitani, who defeated the other Indian in the Women’s Singles draw, PV Sindhu. HS Prannoy will also play his second round tie against Lee Dong Keun of Japan.

But perhaps the biggest draw for all Indian fans on Thursday will be to see who would come on top in the battle of the Indians when Paruappli Kashyap will take on Kidambi Srikanth in the second round. Both players have met just once in the past, with the former coming on top. But tomorrow is a new day and it certainly promises to be an absolutely intriguing contest between World No.4 and World No.8.
