2016 Malaysian Open Superseries Premier: Top 5 Men's Singles contenders

Chen Long will look to win back-to-back Malaysia Open titles

2.Kento Momota

Can Kento Momota continue his good run?

If there were to be a list for the most improved players in the past 12 months, then Kento Momota from Japan would feature on top of that group. The 21-year-old has certainly taken his game to the next level in the previous 12 months, having won the Indonesia Open, Singapore Open and the Dubai Superseries Finals at the end of last year.

He may have endured an opening round exit in the 2015 edition of this competition, but this time around, he is heading into the competition on the back of a triumphant India Open campiagn and it will be interesting to see if he can carry that momentum into Shah Alam this year.

He will take on HS Prannoy in the 1st round.
