The Delhi Acers became the 1st team to make the cut to the final of the 2016 Premier Badminton League on Thursday, after beating the Chennai Smashers 4-3 in a pulsating contest at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
Ajay Jayaram, who won a thrilling three-game contest against Sony Kuncoro, spoke exclusively to Sportskeda on the team’s performance, Sugiarto’s brilliant show and the amazing crowd support.
1.On his team’s performance on the team: Its been a great day. Very thrilling. Very happy that we managed to pull through this tie. Great all round effort. Personally as well, very happy. I have played 3 matches so far and won all 3 of them. It's been in a good day.
2.On Sugiarto’s win in the last match: Yes, that was our strategy right throughout. We knew that it would go down the wire, right until the last match. We knew that he has been playing extremely well, so we quite confident that he would get through.
3.On the amazing crowd support: Oh ya! that’s been fantastic. I know that’s what the Premier Badminton League has done for badminton in India. Such a lovely crowd, such an enthusiastic crowd. Thanks to everyone who has taken out the time to come and support for us.
The Acers will know whom they will face in the final in front of their home fans on Sunday later today.
