BWF dismisses suspension appeal by Thai shuttler

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 25 (IANS) The Badminton World Federation (BWF) Friday rejected the appeal made by Thailand player Bodin Issara over his two-year suspension after a court-side fight with his teammate.

The world badminton governing body said in a statement that its Appeals Panel has unanimously upheld the suspension as there were “proven breaches of the BWF Players’ Code of Conduct”, reports Xinhua.

The three-member body dismissed Bodin’s appeal and confirmed that the 22-year-old is ineligible to compete in all tournaments sanctioned by the BWF for two years effective July 21, 2013.

Bodin was suspended after a rare court brawl with another Thai player, Maneepong Jongjit, during the men’s doubles final of the Canada Open in July.

Maneepong was suspended for three months and has recently returned to competition, BWF said.
